Without a songwriter there is no song, and without a song there are no singers.  As artists one of the most important groups of people to us are songwriters.  We have just finished our upcoming CD titled, “Declaration” and are anxiously waiting to receive the final product from manufacturing.  We were blessed to have some incredible songs from great writers.  In the next few posts we would like to take you through the process of how a song is made, from the writing of the song all the way to the finished product.
I got in touch with one of the writers, Gary Coolbeth, who wrote the beautiful song “My Heart Knows” on the upcoming CD.  I asked if he would share how the song came to be and what the song means to him. Here is what he had to say:

“The writing of MY HEART KNOWS was like many songs. As songwriters we always have a lot of ideas floating around but what we need is a good line or a title that expresses that idea. Once you get that, the lyric is usually not that hard to write. I was thinking about the joy that we have in Christ even when circumstances make us unhappy and the fact that we are still saved even though we may not feel saved at times. God’s word is always true, I’m sure glad about that. I always pray that God will work in the hearts of those that He would have sing my songs. I’m thankful for the Crist Family. God is just so good to us.”

As we take you through this journey of the creation of a song we welcome any questions or comments you have along the way.  Maybe some of you are aspiring songwriters and would like to share what inspires you to write a song.
